Supporting families
Face-to-face or online
How can we support you?
When a child is diagnosed with a learning disability, parents often feel confused, lost, and helpless. The terminology of the psychologist's or neurologist's report, the understanding of recommendations, support, and suggested interventions - whether with the school or various therapists - are all areas parents have to navigate. Frequently, these are moments that families have to endure alone and which are extremely stressful.
Decoding and further explanations
Parents must understand what's happening at the cognitive and sensory-motor levels in their child's learning. This understanding enables better support, not only academically but, above all, emotionally.
Interface with different stakeholders
We can act as an intermediary between parents and the school. Too often, discussions between parents and school are tinged with emotion. Each party struggles to understand the other's point of view, because the child's difficulties are expressed in totally different ways in different contexts. One person's reality differs from another's. Mutual understanding is essential to support the child.
